Abstract

With modernization and expanding cosmetic industry, beauty and exquisiteness have become accessible to humans for a prolonged duration. Plastic surgery is one of the emerging reasons for sustained beauty. It involves improvement in a person’s appearance, regeneration and restoration of body tissues, which are grossly deformed by accepted standards caused by illness, trauma, or birth disorders. People with congenital or accidental abnormalities have to go through reconstructive surgery so that they can restore their body parts and improve their appearance. However, cosmetic surgery has also become common with people who feel insecure and want to look young forever. This increased trend is due to excessive media advertisements which trigger people’s low self-esteem. Islam encourages treating abnormalities but forbids anything that is against nature. Changing one's natural appearance to attain specific beauty standards is against Quran and Sunnah as Almighty Allah has created humans as the most beautiful creation.
