Abstract

Arabic poetry before the dawn of Islam is called pre-islamic poetry. This poetry has significant place in Arabic literature because of its ability to portray Arabian codes of life. Numbers of poets wrote about the Prophet's biography (السيرة النبوية) and eulogy after His (صلى الله عليه وسلم) Prophethood. In fact this process continues till the present day where countless poets praise and pray tribute to Holy Prophet (PBUH) in their poetry. In the same way, when we come across pre-islamic poetry traces of life and actions of Hazrat Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم) before claim of Prophethood comes forward. Most of the times pre-islamic poetry deals with early life events include childhood, youth and incidents of piousness and virtue of Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم). In the same way, accounts of bailment and truth fullness of Holy Prophet (صلى الله عليه وسلم) are also discussed in detail in the perspective of pre-islamic poetry.
