Impact of Quran, Impact of Ḥadīth, Maqamas of Al-Harare.

Abstract

In the second half of the tenth century, a new literary genre appeared. This was known as Maqama "assemblies" - amusing anecdotes narrated by a vagabond who made his living by his wits. The Maqama was invented by Badi' al Zaman al-Hamadhani (d. 1008); only fifty-two of his original four hundred Maqama have survived. Al-Hariri (d. 1122) elaborated upon this genre and stereotyped it, using the same format and inventing his own narrator and roguish hero. The popularity of the Maqama was eclipsed by the rise of modern Arabic." Maqama is a unique genre of Arabic literature. It is also called “rhymed prose” in a highly finished style. AL- Harare a famous writer of the Fifth Islamic century, is known for introducing Maqama to Arabic Literature. Al-Harare has a unique place in Arabic Literature. It is evident after deeply studying his Maqamas that he frequently utilizes Quran and Ḥadīth words, quotations and concepts. The Study of Maqamas by Al-Harare shows that he has great inspiration from the Islamic history literature Islamic worships, beliefs, personalities and especially vocabulary of Holy Quran and Ḥadīth. One of the important aspects of his “Maqama” is that he has benefited a lot from the Holy Quran and Ḥadīth. Anyhow in this Article, the influence of Quran and Ḥadīth on Maqamas of Al-Harare is analyzed along with Islamic terms and compassion used in Quran and Sunnah.
