Abstract

The Islamic doctrine to command right and forbid wrong is an important and central principle that could not be ignored. Because it has strong Socio-Political implications and consequences. It is an individual and communal duty of a Muslim to stop people from doing wrong. The three modes of forbidding wrong with hand, tongue or minimum at heart as narrated in Ḥadīth implies that every situation demands different forms of actions for Nahī-an-al-munkar. Mulsim scholar’s have discussed the stages of forbidding wrong with emphasis on knowledge of whole situations value of privacy, along with issues of specialization, competance and stability. This indicates that its implementation by force is not required in every situation by an individual because its wrong implementation can result in breach of privacy and rebellion against state. Therefore its understanding is important. This paper mainly describes the importance stages and ways of implimentatons of Nahī-an-al-munkar.
